Zack and Jack
Zack and Jack are identical twins who are happiest when out for a walk with their foster carer to the local train station to wave at the “choo-choos”. Both boys take great delight in watching the trains go past. The twins eat and sleep well and have just started attending nursery three mornings a week.
Zack and Jack are described by their foster carer as lots of fun. They love to explore their surroundings, especially if it involves passing a train station, and enjoy sensory play such as water or bubbles. The boys’ current favourite TV show is Thomas the Tank Engine, and they will happily watch it together, snuggled on the sofa, especially with the foster carers’ dogs.
The twins’ birth parents had a difficult relationship and the boys were exposed to drugs, alcohol and domestic violence while in utero. They were born at 35 weeks and spent a short time in hospital before being discharged into the care of foster carers.
Now age 2, both boys are showing autistic traits. They are pre-verbal and while Zack seems to engage more in eye contact with trusted adults, he is prone to repetitive behaviours such as rocking. Jack on the other hand struggles to make eye contact but will happily take his foster carer’s hand and point at things he wants to do.
The boys are having support from Speech and Language Therapists and we need adopters who will advocate for them as they grow and celebrate them as both individuals, and brothers.
