Isla
Isla is a determined little girl who has just learnt the word “no” and definitely likes to use it! Her foster carers say that she is an “independent little miss” who will try to do everything for herself - from zipping up coats to buckling her shoes – Isla is convinced she can do it best and brings a smile to her carers as she tries!
Isla was removed from her birth parents’ care after she was admitted to hospital with a broken arm. Further tests indicated other signs of physical abuse and Isla was placed in foster care. She has had two moves within foster placements while the possibility of Isla living with extended family has been explored, but ultimately a plan of adoption has been decided for her.
Isla is slightly behind in meeting her milestones and struggles to swallow food. She is under the care of a paediatrician but with her level of tenacious determination, her foster carers don’t think she’ll be too far behind!
Isla is currently in a busy foster care placement and she enjoys interacting with the other children and the foster carer’s several pets. She would be suited to live in a lively household with parents who can support her to understand her difficult life story.
