Amina

Amina is described by her foster carers as a “whirlwind of joy”. She loves to explore her surroundings and takes delight in the small things – like knocking down a tower of blocks or hearing leaves crunch as she walks through them.

Amina was removed from her birth parents’ care when she was 14 months old. Her parents were struggling to give her the consistent care she needed and she experienced neglect, as well as exposure to domestic violence.

When she first arrived at her foster carers she was withdrawn, wasn’t yet walking or crawling and struggled to eat solids. Now, at age 3, she has made huge progress and is only slightly behind in meeting her developmental milestones. Amina is a little girl who loves to be outside. She loves to run, climb, and has started to put two or three words together – “snack now please” being one of her favourite sayings!

We need a family who can accept the uncertainties that her early experiences might mean for her development, as well as help her celebrate her African heritage.

Age: 3
