Training and support in early placement
Once your child has been placed with you, our social workers will continue to visit and will assess if additional support is needed.
Adoption is a huge change for both the child and the parents, and our team understand that these early days can feel like a rollercoaster of emotions. That’s why we continue to visit, we offer training and support, and we run sessions that the whole family can engage in.
-
The child’s Social Worker will visit regularly until the Adoption Order is granted. If some additional support would be helpful at this stage then they can help to make this happen.
-
This is provided by our specialists on the Adoption Support Advice Team, who will make an individualised plan with you
-
All families are encouraged to attend Theraplay®-informed group for children and their parents, and the Foundations for Attachment training
-
Adopters will be invited to join evening workshops on the importance of play, therapeutic parenting for primary age, working with your child's nursery, and life story work.
If you are already one of our adopters and want to learn more about the training on offer please email ACevents@adoptioncounts.org.uk
