Afia

Afia is only a few weeks old. She has just started to smile and show interest in people’s faces, as well as lights and sounds. She wakes regularly for feeds during the nights but is quickly settled by a cuddle and some milk.

Afia has older brothers and sisters who have already been taken into care due to neglect and domestic violence in the home. Afia may have been exposed to drugs and domestic violence in utero but wasn’t born experiencing any withdrawal.

While Afia’s mum was pregnant with her, the decision was made that Afia would have a plan of adoption. Until the courts finalise this, Afia needs an early permanence placement. This means that adopters would care for her as foster carers, until the Court finalises their decision and then she can be legally adopted. As she gets older, we would like adopters to help Afia maintain a relationship with her siblings.
