LGBTQ+ adoption

At Adoption Counts we are very proud that last year 1 in 3 of the families that we matched were LGBTQ+. This is well above the national average of 1 in 5 in England.*

Sexual orientation or gender identity does not affect your application to adopt, and it does not matter if you are single, in a civil partnership, married or co-habiting – all applications are treated equally.

Working with others

In line with our commitment to creating LGBTQ+ families, Adoption Counts subscribes to New Family Social’s services. LGBTQ+ applicants who are being assessed or approved through Adoption Counts can access New Family Social Gold membership free of charge, giving them access to specialist peer support, events, groups, resources and support throughout their adoption journey.

We are also proud partners of Proud2bParents, the organisation that supports LGBTQ+ carers, parents and parents to be in Greater Manchester and across the North West. Proud 2 b Parents runs regular meet-ups, youth sessions, family support, seasonal parties and Pride family spaces, alongside online groups.

As a regional adoption agency we attend the Pride events across Manchester and Cheshire East and we are always delighted to catch up with so many of the families we’ve been privileged to be a part of creating. Follow our social channels to see which Pride events we will be at this year.
