Specialist support

We have worked closely with adopters to identify what good adoption support looks like. Adoption Counts are one of the few Regional Adoption Agencies in England with a specialist psychology team, whose expertise is embedded across the service. 

We are proud to be able to offer specialist support on top of our universal services.

Subject to assessment, your family could be offered some of the following:

• Adoption Support Assessment, which may include specialist therapeutic services for families from the ASGSF (Adoption and Special Guardianship Support Fund)

• Access to an Adoption Psychology Service which has a range of professionals for consultation, advice and direct support

• Individual/group skills training targeting behavioural, emotional and social skills

• Pupil Premium Plus consultation

• Training and advice for your child’s school

• Sensory processing

• Creative therapies such as play therapy, art and music therapy

• Maintaining relationships with your child’s birth family

• 18+ support for adopted people becoming adults

• Access to records for adopted people wanting to read their adoption information
